Hello from Kenya - Shut down/ Lock in ,
May 17 was my birthday -- I forgot to post about it - we gathered, had cake and played Farkle. It was nice to laugh and have friends over . Praise Jesus!! The president of Kenya has announced the lockdown will be extended another 30 days with the curfew being put to 9pm for all households. The rules of washing hands, social distancing and wearing masks are to be adhered to. He announced schools will stay closed until September 2020. For such a time as this. This is said quite often and I was pondering it this last month. In the lock down I am wondering about the change in the ministry here in Kenya as we adjust. I look at what is happening in the world today and it is a moment we can impact by telling truth and not getting sucked into he said she said stuff. Paying attention to our own lives and how we are reflecting the love of Christ. None of us are perfect and we need to be better. I will only ever bow to Jesus and honor God with my life as I humbly come to Him and ask for forgiveness. What is our purpose where we are ? Missionaries, homemakers, teachers, Doctors, Social media , News media, and a church. How do we fix the issue?? what truly is the issue? i know the answer : the sacrifice of Jesus for salvation. In the book of Esther 4:14 says that “perhaps you were made for such a time as this” Simply put it means you were born at the right time, in the right place, and to the right people, and in the right circumstances for a purpose - Not for you, but for God. God has us where we are for a reason. We might not like it or want it, but what can we do with it ?? We can sing of the goodness of God because he is fatihful. I believe God has a purpose for all life conceived, and the plan is one meant for good and to Honor Him. We may not see all the opportunity that is surrounding us. If we stay willing, open to his will, and humble our God will fulfill the purpose for His glory. We need to be obedient and in prayer daily, minute by minute to be able to realize what our reality is. God is only good and we are to worship and praise Him. The phrase ‘For such a time as this “ invokes courage and hope among believers. It inspire us to try and make a positive difference or change in our own lives and for others too. In order for this to have meaning personally we need to look at ourselves closely. Who are we? who are we in our identity in Christ? Do we trust God where we are in our life ? Besides Esther questioning her life and how she can help her people lets take a look at Moses. He is another example of a man who was very courageous and brave in history. Moses trusted and believed God and yet, he lacked confidence in his own self and his own abilities. Its not so much trusting ourself and our own abilities, it is about trusting God. What does that mean for us? Do you confidently, bravely, and courageously TRUST GOD ? We all face our life at times with doubt and fear, when we wonder,” why me ?” ( even though we say HERE I am Lord -let your will be done ) Even with the cards stacked against us, the Odds not in our favor, we do know we can trust that Gods plans will always prevail. If we continue to hope and keep our foundations in our faith and teaching we can change the world and share with the world why Jesus came to save us. God wants a relationship with His creation. Romans 8:14-16 - NASB For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God. For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out. “ Abba Father !’ God has His chosen people, and then He included all of us - salvation Our lives now do NOT compare to the past or to the future. Our lives are now. We were not create to worry or fear. we were created to worship. All believers have an essential role to play in the ongoing plan of God. We can trust Him as we live out our “for such a time as this” moment. Our Moment being our life. Just something to think abou . Love to all. updates; - we have been supplying many people with food/supplies, and some with shelter costs. Many people are suffering and need prayer. The food and supplies have increased in cost about 30%. The government is not helping rural areas that are away from Nairobi. - we have increased our security as there are many active thieves all around and it was a necessity. ( this is from personal experience ) - we are praying for provision to build a secure home and secure base for thither. s ministry in the Bungoma county area. - we have been given opportunities to help with an infant that was abandoned at birth. We are praying about how to help more children that are abandoned. - Street ministry is changing. Our ministry has handed out clothing, food and masks. We have 3 really strong groups/organizations that have taken up the street children cause in Bungoma and we feel that they can help much more than we can and will support them when needed. Our ministry is a blessing to the community we live in. We have been able share the gospel of Jesus Christ and His salvation with many people in daily walks of life . People are hungry for Love and Faith alongside their hunger physically. There is no church meetings at this time, but we are still preaching and praising. We are planning a prayer gathering. Kids everywhere to love on with food , sweets, clothes, and to teach each one Jesus loves them with songs. There are many youths from 12-20 walking around with nothing to do. Its easy to say hi and starts up a conversation with bread and sweets. We learn about their family story and hope & dreams. We provide finances and food for many children and vulnerable adults. We are continuing to do well in the chickens, goats and small garden. ministry needs: Personal financial support needed monthly. please pray about supporting this ministry financial support on a monthly basis can do many things $50 a month =feeds a family of 5 for the month, OR purchases a bag of maize(80 lbs), OR pays rent for one month $45 a month = supplies an abandoned baby/child with a doctor visit, formula & supplies for daily care EXCITING NEWS ! Butterflies & Missions has purchased a plot (1/8 acre ) - we are now planning for the build...............please pray about being a part of this important ministry Butterflies & Missions -we are caring for the abandoned children and vulnerable people in Kenya, Africa. We help vulnerable people and and children in poverty by giving food, clothing, shelter, and families to set up small business to help them get out of poverty. Consider being a sponsor of our ministry. Send support to: Hope Evangelical church 9191 Hwy 53, Cotton, MN 55724 Support though the Web page : charisemillsop.weebly.com or PayPal.me.charisemillsop Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support We are so thankful . Elvis & Charise Hello from Kenya.
It has been an interesting month and half here as we transitioned to quarantine /isolation. I have completely forgotten to do an update, and I apologize. There are a few changes with the lock down and I’m still adjusting. I want to say thank you to Koni & Floriann for keeping our chat dates once a week to keep up with all that has changed and is currently happening. Elvis and I are so thankful to have been able to log in to some church services, worship services and devotionals. In Kenya you pay for the internet/ phone time/messaging use as you use it on a token method and I am finding it difficult to keep up. A lot has been happening here in Kenya ( and around the world ) . Poverty is HIG, and on the rise again. The lock down started in early March 2020. Official travel shutdown April 6th, with no one going in or out of Nairobi. Foreign nationals are being told their are flights available to leave and then those flights cancel without refund. For me , I have a return flight June 2nd, and I believe at this point of the virus issues, I will need to delay that trip until August or September. Kenya is about 2-3 weeks out from America so I was able to warn some people here of what was coming. The reality here though, is that people live daily and cannot stock up. (not even on toilet paper) Poverty is affecting so many lives. Elvis and I are trying our level best to give out as much as we are receiving. In our community we have poor elderly, children, families, business people who are no longer working and cannot work from home, blind and handicapped. This is our main priority right now We live approximately 3 blocks from a mosque that uses a loud speaker to shout and pray and sing at least 6 times per day starting at 5 am. The government closed schools and churches and funerals all at the same time, but the muslim culture here is not abiding by the rules. We all feel spiritual warfare around this area. Elvis and I have befriended a lot of the community and they are feeling the same. We are all praying for protection as there is a band /gang of thieves making the rounds in Bungoma area. In the last 2 months there have been robberies and killings in a 2 miles radius of my current home. We have a brick wall, animals, and a wonderful dog that is keeping the compound safe. There is a high alert out for 3 swarms of locusts that will be hatching fully by May 3 in Kenya. This will destry what is left of the last food supply and also the new crops coming up. The locusts have come down from Somalia and will travel next to Asia. The government and scientists are predicting this to be a biblical proportion plague at about 400 times the normal. In Nairobi there is a plague of the nairobi fly ( kinda like an army work invasion ) BUT they bite and it is like acid on your skin. These bites create a lot of damage and scars. There has been major flooding in Kisumu and surrounding areas devastating crops, demolishing houses, land and businesses. The people affected by the floods are truly suffering as they have lost everything. The government is looking at some sort of plan to help. The orphanage, Disciples of Mercy that we visited in January is ok and they are all safe. Praise the Lord. I just really feel that Africa and America need 2 Chronicles 7:13-16 ( the whole world actually) 14- My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from there wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land. -- its clear what needs to happen. Update personally: What is happening to foreigners?? in town we are being heckled as corona corona — white people go home - chinese nationals working in construction here are being targeted and told to leave the country— at home people come to the gate asking for work and for help with food. Just yesterday, we returned from town to get a few supplies and found a dead chicken inside the gate area. Feathers everywhere but not from the dead chicken. my dog would not go near the chicken and all our our chickens were accounted for. We believe it was an attempt to poison our dog Lucy. She is very smart and she is extremely loyal to me and I am so thankful to have her. I was relieved that she did not touch that chicken!!!! this is getting long so Ill close it up _— Message me for more info —Links at the bottom to news Prayer points: -Government leaders to be clear and truthful - there is a lot of manipulation and fear mongering. -People to be provided for with food and help with shelter -Locusts to not be as predicted (400 times larger swarms than ever -to fully hatch by May 13th) -food supplies to be protected as the supply is low and demand is high. prices are rising -Nairobi Fly to swarm infestation to disperse quickly ( this is a tiny Creepy Stinging fly ) Huge swarm just hit nairobi this last week. -Floods in Kisumu ( 2 hours from me ) to be receding quickly and help for the people who have lost crops and homes and businesses . Personal: Energy, strength, health. Elvis passport ( immigration closed the day he went for his appointment and we have not heard anything. We have received a lot of calls requesting help for : planting, tilling, fertilizer and insecticides . Food and medicine. for the last 2 months we have been doing weekly food drops in neighboring communities. The demand is high. It has been made more difficult with kids out of school, people out of work, staying home is not reality here. Children cannot learn online here because there is no money to pay for internet, there is no money for food!! Just on news today !!!! The government is calling the candidates ( class 8 and Class 12 ) back to school next week to start taking exams. For those children in rural areas with poverty they will probably do poorly as they have not kept up with school. No access to internet affects their studying and will affect exam results. It is is stressful situation as well as a complicated one. Please pray for these students. Please feel free to support in any way . PayPal.me/ChariseMillsop OR charisemillsop.weebly.com ( donate ) OR message me for other options. Stay strong. Stay well. Be at peace . I've put an article online on facebook to answer this question.
I no longer follow traditional "Easter" as I know what it truly stands for. I follow the Birth, Ministry, Crucifixion, and Ressurection of Jesus . This is the Holy day of Remembrance that Jesus died for ALL sin and then -Raised again to life to show us that He will come back for us. He taught this message all throughout His ministry. Jesus said to His disciples on the evening He was betrayed that they could not go with Hm , but He would come back. I will celebrate that day. The one who is true; is Father, Son, & Holy Spirit. Romans 6: 9-11 Paul says to us that we are crucified with Christ and Yet we live. Not us , but Christ lives within us. WE as a people of the one true Living God should be rejoicing in that. We will have eternal life with Him. He is advising us and we should take heed and LISTEN. Current events and times are chaotic and can be scary. The enemy has placed deception, manipulation and deceit everywhere in all aspects of our lives. We are surrounded by TV, news, fake church, false teaching, false Identities, and lies. The enemy is getting desperate for your soul.Research the Word , all avenues you have to get to the truth. Jesus said I am the Way - the Life - the Truth and NO ONE comes to the Father but through me. Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus? Repent and Believe now Do you believe He is who He says He is ?? He is the true Messiah and Saviour!! There is no need for fear in Life or in death. This is our opportunity to reevaluate our lives. Make a check list of the things you need to get rid of and DO IT. Work on your personal relationship with Jesus --being in the WORD, abiding in the Love of Christ by living that out daily and praying is all that matters. If we live a life honoring God and seeking Him, that is what will get us through whatever the enemy has for us. Stand firm on Jesus word. Tell anyone and everyone about what Jesus did. We are all sinners and we all need Jesus. May you feel blessed to be alive and be humbled that we have a way to the Father. This is the time of the Harvest. Charise Giving Thanks -- I'd like to think that I look a glass, and see it is half full. I'd also like to think that I choose to find something positive and be thankful in all situations in my life. I was listening to a popular christian radio station driving in the car the other day, and a song came on and the words were ;
"A little change in your point of view could be just what you need. there's always a reason to always choose Joy - there's something deeper that the world can't destroy, SMILE when you think you can't ; SMILE and get up and dance ; there's a bigger plan , the storm only lasts for awhile, so SMILE. " Sidewalk Prohets -SMILE I am one who tries my best to live this way. This song is perfect for how I feel every day.
